Job Description:


The Simulation Technician assists staff/faculty in managing the simulation environment and activities, including mannequins, task trainers and audiovisual equipment utilization. Responsible for preparing, troubleshooting, and maintaining simulation equipment (computers, AV, mannequins, task trainers, etc) related to simulation-based learning. Utilizes healthcare knowledge/experience during simulation sessions as simulator operator or actor (role-playing healthcare professional/family member).

HealthPartners Clinical Simulation is a unique, state-of-the-art program where students and healthcare professionals use computer-programmed human patient simulators, virtual reality trainers, realistic anatomical models, and simulated clinical facilities to increase knowledge, learn and practice technical skills, teamwork, communication, critical thinking, and processes to improve patient care and reduce risk.



Associate/technical degree, diploma, or certificate in a relevant field (LPN/RN, EMT/Medic, Medical Assistant, biology, biomedical, IT, AV, computer repair, technology, etc.). Master’s degree in a relevant field is preferred.


* Minimum of one year of healthcare-related experience in pre-hospital, hospital, clinic or EMT role is preferred (Critical Care, Emergency Room, ED Tech, OBGyn, Paramedic, PCA, Nursing Assistant)
* Computer proficiency required
* Experience working with a variety of medical equipment preferred
* Experience using AV equipment preferred
* Computer programming, networking, repair experience preferred

Knowledge, Skills

& Abilities:

* Proficiency in computer use and software applications, including Word, Excel, Email, Internet, database
* Ability to learn new technology (software and equipment) quickly
* Ability to assess, troubleshoot and fix equipment failures in a timely fashion
* Ability to maintain simulation equipment, as directed
* Able to independently operate simulation equipment (high fidelity mannequins by Laerdal, & Gaumard, as well as task trainers, AV system) within 6 months of hire
* Experience working with a variety of medical equipment preferred
* Knowledge of/experience using AV equipment and software for recording, duplicating, and playback preferred
* Familiarity with simulation services, technologies (i.e. mannequins, procedural simulators, and applications
* Demonstrated aptitude in using computer and computer-related equipment
* Ability to be flexible/adaptable and to meet rapidly changing needs of department and customers
* Self-motivated; ability to work independently and as part of a team
* Ability to work well under pressure, set priorities, and meet deadlines
* Ability to work with internal and external individuals from different disciplines, cultures, and levels of training
* Strong verbal and written communication skills
* Strong organizational skills, attention to detail
* Ability to anticipate the needs of the director, co-workers, and other customers
* Strong attention to detail
* Additional background as a film maker, audio producer or digital video production is desirable
