He/she must be a strong motivator, with the ability to engage staff and improve morale at all levels.<br><br>The incumbent will have the information, the authority and the decision making power they need to carry out their assignments.<br><br>Reporting Relationship:<br>Reports directly to the HPMG Associate Medical Director for Behavioral Health and to the Vice President for Behavioral Health - Regions Hospital, with a secondary reporting relationship to the Regions Hospital Vice President of Medical Affairs.<br><br>Key Working Relationships:<br>To accomplish the intended outcomes, the incumbent must maintain effective working relationships with:<br><br>Ø Regions Behavioral Health staff at all levels<br>Ø Regions Medical Staff<br>Ø Regions Medical Staff Divisional Heads, Section Heads<br>Ø Regions Administrative Leaders, Directors and Department Heads<br>Ø HPMG Physicians/Clinicians<br>Ø Regions Quality Staff<br>Ø Regions Best Care and Best Experience Staff and committees<br>Ø Key Community BH Leaders<br>Ø Regions ED<br><br>Required Qualifications:<br><br>Ø M.D/D.O degree and current, valid Minnesota license to practice medicine.<br>Ø At least two years with demonstrated leadership and/or and management experience.<br>Ø At least five years experience as a practicing physician including extensive inpatient work.<br>Ø Board certification in Psychiatry<br>Ø Knowledge and understanding of principles of Evidence Based Medicine and Care Improvement and its application in clinical practice.<br><br>Ø An effective consensus builder who can involve staff, build teams, AND get tasks accomplished in a timely manner.<br>Ø Maintain substantive patient care responsibilities.<br>Ø Must be a self-starter who will effectively see future needs and problems, and create or modify programs as required.<br><br>Preferred Skills:<br><br>Ø Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with a diversity of personalities.<br>Ø Must be approachable and able to present needs, context and data with effective communication and presentation skills.<br>Ø Strong leader with a mature sense of priorities and practical experience who can design and implement systems within the framework of hospital, medical group, and community needs.<br>Ø Must be able to develop flexible, agile, and transferable models for pathways of care across the care delivery continuum.<br>Ø Ability, knowledge, expertise and experience to lead processes to engage patients/families, improve patient care services.<br>Ø A strong, adaptable manager who focuses on collaboration and creativity with a high degree of energy and enthusiasm.<br>Ø A team player who promotes people working together versus individualism.<br>Ø Must understand psychiatry and its relationship to medicine and the community.<br>Ø Must be an effective change agent.<br><br>Position Responsibilities<br>In partnership with Regions Behavioral Health Director of Nursing, the incumbent will be responsible for:<br>· Measuring and improving the quality of inpatient Behavioral Health care at Regions Hospital<br>· Improving patient/family satisfaction<br>· Improving BH patient flow<br>· Engaging staff at various levels and improving employee satisfaction<br>· Ensuring that all regulatory requirements are met (JCAHO, CMS, MN DHS, MN Dept. of Public Health)<br>· Developing, implementing and upholding inpatient mental health policies and procedures<br>· Customer service orientation<br>· Hovander/Safe House/Safe Alternatives<br>· ED and Crisis Services<br>· Oversight of BH case management<br>· Participate in planning for the new BH facility<br><br>Individually responsible for:<br>· Supervising and managing all inpatient psychiatrists<br>· Overseeing the Psychiatric Consultation & Liaison Service<br>· Establishing and maintaining inpatient psychiatric coverage (call, vacation, illness, CME, weekends and evenings)<br>· Supervision of inpatient psychiatric medical students/moonlighters/Advanced Practice Providers<br>· Attending all appropriate meetings (i.e., patient care)<br>· Championing efforts to effectively use inpatient resources and improve patient throughput<br>· Assisting in the facilitation and improvement of inpatient EPIC<br>· Willingness to become Division Head for Regions Hospital Behavioral Health, if chosen to do so<br>· Leading the implementation of BEST CARE/BEST EXPERIENCE on inpatient mental health<br>· Oversee psychiatric coverage of ED<br><br>In partnership with the Assistant Medical Director for Behavioral Health ?
